Medical Financing Company
Web Product
This credit card company works with care providers to offer special rates and promotional financing for medical expenses in a variety of fields from dental to veterinarian care.
Project Cycle
We helped this client achieve their goal of adopting a more agile process; striking a balance with a hybrid waterfall/agile working style. With the development and content teams working independently, we kept constant communication by revisiting screens for content updates and reviewed the development team's work as they completed their tasks.
UX to UI
Using wireframes to gather requirements was an effective approach to allow us to have conversations with the client about functionality and uncover new opportunities without being distracted by visual details. By engaging in rounds of feedback, stakeholders had the opportunity to provide their perspectives, identify any gaps or areas for improvement, and align the design with their expectations.
Design Library
Keeping in mind the capability and time constraints, we created an “atomic design” style of library with foundational elements such as type, color, and grid structure used to build components that would be used in re-usable “blocks”. These foundational elements had different guidelines for how the icons, pictograms, and graphics could be used and drawn.
User Testing
Approach
Our research explored users' use of a locator tool, their comprehension of the relationship between listings and the corresponding map display, and their navigation strategies for finding care providers.
Outcomes
We found that users were able to intuitively use levels of the navigation but didn’t notice the listings on the lower half of the screen. Additionally, we found that using the company’s logo for preferred providers in the listing and map generated confusion with users assuming that these were the company’s own locations rather than the care provider listings.

From this we moved forward with a new icon strategy that would ultimately clear up confusion while still achieving the business’s goals.
Development Review
During the design QA process, I collaborated with the development team to address any issues. I closely reviewed the design deliverables, focusing on visual consistency, functionality, and usability. We discussed and resolved any discrepancies, inconsistencies, or usability concerns to ensuring that the implementation aligned with the design requirements.
